One of the more personal aspects behind Hampton Roads Gold is tied directly to my wife, Constance. We met online in 1996, long before social media and smartphones, using a 9600 baud modem and a 386 computer while she was working at UMass Amherst and I was living and working in Williamsburg, Virginia at Hampton Roads Sanitation District.
Over the years, she has remained my closest supporter, sharpest editorial eye, and most trusted encourager throughout every stage of my writing journey. In many ways, the title Hampton Roads Gold carries a meaning beyond the story itself.
To me, she has always been my Hampton Roads Gold.
